Annogen is launcing its proprietary SuRE™ platform, which is used for functional annotation and improvement of promoters and enhancers, for applications in crop engineering. The powerful platform provides a massive-scale “blueprint” of a crop’s genetic regulatory landscape to pinpoint the specific mutations that unlock key traits like drought/pest resistance and increased yield. Annogen’s SuRE™ platform can for instance rapidly characterize all variants in gene promotors that control or enhance expression of specific genes and traits without editing the natural, coding genes. Using this information, increased gene expression and trait improvement can subsequently be established via TILLING or gene editing (GE).
To help accelerate our contribution in the Ag-Biotech field, we are proud to announce that industry leader Dr. Arjen van Tunen, former CEO of KeyGene, will support and advice our Ag team. His expertise and vision will be instrumental as we build on our strong foundation and collaborations in the seed industry.
“In the past few years we have validated our platform with leading seed and Ag-Biotech companies. We could show for instance that gene expression of crucial genes can be upregulated via single point mutations in specifically identified regulatory regions with factors more than 10-fold. We will now expand our efforts to help the seed industry to develop the resilient, high-performance crops our world needs.”, says Dr. Joris van Arensbergen, CEO and founder of Annogen.
Annogen is ready to provide our new proprietary tools for genetically engineered crop improvement and to assist in driving sustainable agriculture forward.
